Our beliefs
At First Baptist Church of Florence Estates (FBCFE), we are committed to the truth of God’s Word, the transformative power of the Gospel, and the mission of making disciples. Our faith is rooted in the Holy Scriptures and guided by the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. We exist to glorify God, strengthen believers, and share the hope of salvation with the world.
-
We believe the Bible is the infallible, authoritative, and inspired Word of God (2 Timothy 3:16-17). It is the foundation for our faith and the ultimate standard by which we live. The Scriptures reveal God’s character, His will for humanity, and His redemptive plan through Jesus Christ. We hold that both the Old and New Testaments are equally inspired and useful for teaching, correction, and spiritual growth.
-
We believe in one true and living God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19). He is the Creator and Sustainer of all things, sovereign over history, and intimately involved in the lives of His people.
God the Father is all-powerful, all-knowing, and full of grace and justice. He is the source of all life and desires a personal relationship with His creation (John 3:16; Romans 8:15).
God the Son, Jesus Christ, is fully God and fully man. Born of a virgin, He lived a sinless life, died as a sacrifice for our sins, and rose again to conquer death (John 1:1-14; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4). He is the only way to salvation (John 14:6) and will return to reign in glory.
God the Holy Spirit indwells all believers, empowering them to live godly lives, convicting the world of sin, and equipping the Church for ministry (John 16:7-13; Acts 1:8).
-
We believe that salvation is a free gift from God, received by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone (Ephesians 2:8-9). Humanity is separated from God by sin, but through Jesus’ death and resurrection, we are offered forgiveness and eternal life.
To be saved, one must:
Acknowledge their sin (Romans 3:23).
Repent and turn to Christ (Acts 3:19).
Confess Jesus as Lord and believe in His resurrection (Romans 10:9-10).
Salvation is not earned by good works but is demonstrated by a transformed life led by the Holy Spirit (2 Corinthians 5:17).
-
We believe the Church is the living body of Christ, called to worship, grow, and serve (Ephesians 4:11-16). The Church is not just a building—it is a community of believers united in faith, committed to biblical teaching, and actively fulfilling the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20).
At First Baptist Church of Florence Estates, we are dedicated to:
Gathering in worship (Hebrews 10:25).
Discipling believers to grow in their faith (Colossians 1:28).
Serving our community through love and good works (Matthew 5:16).
Sharing the Gospel boldly with the world (Romans 1:16).
-
We practice baptism and communion as acts of obedience and symbols of our faith.
Baptism is an outward expression of an inward transformation, symbolizing our union with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection (Romans 6:4). We believe in baptism by immersion, following the biblical example (Matthew 3:16).
Communion (The Lord’s Supper) is a sacred time of remembrance, honoring Jesus’ sacrifice and anticipating His return (1 Corinthians 11:23-26).
These ordinances do not bring salvation but serve as powerful testimonies of our faith in Christ.
Following Christ is more than just believing—it requires a life of obedience, worship, and surrender. We are called to:
Love God wholeheartedly and love others selflessly (Matthew 22:37-39).
Live a life of holiness, set apart for His purposes (1 Peter 1:15-16).
Serve with humility, putting others before ourselves (Philippians 2:3-4).
Remain faithful in prayer, seeking God’s will in all things (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18).
Faith is not just for Sunday—it is a daily walk with Christ, shaped by His Word and guided by the Holy Spirit.
